Having lived in the Moab area and Castle Valley since 1974 I suppose I am almost considered an area native. After finishing college, I came to Moab from Colorado to work in the tour business driving Jeeps and rafting the Colorado River in the summer season, and finding a way to survive in the winter. By the early '80s my wife, Martha, and I had begun building our adobe home in Castle Valley. By the time our second child arrived I realized I needed to spend more time near home.
I decided to make a career for myself in real estate. I went back to school, received my real estate license, and began what has become a successful and gratifying life’s work. During my first four years in real estate I sampled working for two franchises, Century 21 and Coldwell Banker, before starting my own office with partners in 1994. Thus, Moab Realty LC was born.
The real estate business is, of course, very much more complex than tour guiding, yet in many ways is similar to being a competent backcountry guide. I learned as a tour guide to listen to tourists’ interests and gain knowledge of whatever physical abilities or limitations they may have. As a Real Estate Broker, it is also important to listen to the customer’s desires and pay attention to their needs, and to work within their financial constraints. It is equally satisfying to match a customer with a property, as to introduce a tourist to one of the amazing views or experiences in our area of Southeastern Utah.
Pledge of Quality and Service
I will take whatever time is needed to demonstrate the varied attributes of homes, neighborhoods, building lots, or acreage for potential development, or to help investors identify the benefits in commercial ventures. This is what I pledge to each customer who poses the question, “I’m interested in this area – What can you tell me?” I promise to guide you through the often complex, myriad rules and paperwork required in navigating a real estate deal, and to bring you through the process unscathed and enriched for the experience.
Trust me to give you honest, informed answers to your questions, and to seek to locate the ideal property for you, knowing your interests, and your needs. Trust me also to lead you in evaluating your property if you choose to sell, and to represent your interests through the sale of your property. It is by providing people a rewarding experience that I find real estate an exhilarating career. I would be happy to be your real estate guide.
